Online safety education with eSafety

Staying safe online is a constant challenge. Scammers and criminals continue to find ways to access private accounts and gain access to personal information.

BankVic members were recently invited to a live webinar presented in partnership with eSafety. The session was designed to provide scam prevention information and build digital confidence.

Scam prevention

Members were taken through some simple, practical ways to protect personal and financial information online, supported by trusted eSafety resources.
Topics covered in the webinar included:

  • An overview of common online scams, including impersonation scams
  • Online safety essentials like creating strong passphrases and protecting your personal information.

Be Connected: building digital confidence

The Be Connected program is a national initiative designed to help Australians build essential digital skills and navigate the online environment with confidence.

The program offers a variety of free ways to learn, including a website with over 650 resources, regular live online safety presentations, free face-to-face computer classes and support through a national network of over 4,000 community partners. 

Members can learn practical skills to avoid scams, navigate internet banking safely, make secure online payments and much more.

Be Connected is jointly delivered by the eSafety Commissioner, the Department of Social Services and Good Things Australia, working together to empower individuals and communities to thrive safely in the digital age.
